Help Schools improve Students
As Product Manager at Intervene K12, I led the conception and development of a comprehensive online tutoring and intervention platform to close learning gaps for K-12 students.
In addition to defining product vision, conducting user research, and creating a product roadmap, my responsibilities also included:
• Building high-performing cross-functional product teams using Agile and Scrum methodologies
• Implementing product management tools like Confluence and Jira to facilitate collaboration and tracking progress against goals
• Designing and rolling out a new tiered dashboard to provide customized insights and reporting for districts, schools, administrators, teachers and tutors
• Integrating assessment data from districts and campuses to match students with personalized intervention plans and tutors
The overarching goal of the platform was to provide targeted, data-driven intervention at scale through high-dosage online tutoring.
Based on user research consisting of interviews with over 50 administrators, teachers, tutors and students, I prioritized the following features for the MVP:
• A customizable dashboard for districts and campuses showing key metrics like usage trends, state assessment data and progress toward goals
• An assessment library and personalized intervention plans tied to specific learning deficits
• A rostering tool to assign tutors to small groups of students based on their needs and schedules
• Online tutoring sessions delivered in a secure environment with opportunities for live practice and feedback
• Analytics and reporting tools for all stakeholders to monitor student growth and intervention effectiveness

Since launching the platform, we have seen:
• Significant improvement in student performance on key metrics like state test scores and course grades
• Increased utilization and engagement from districts, schools and tutors
• Positive feedback on the customized reporting and insights provided through the tiered dashboard
• Opportunities for actionable insights to further optimize tutoring plans and resource allocation
The success of this project demonstrates my ability to define a compelling product vision, build high-performing teams, implement agile processes, and develop tools to drive desired business outcomes.
For the dashboard and web application, we used:
• PHP and Laravel as the backend framework
• MySQL and PostgreSQL for database management
• HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Vue.js for the frontend
• WordPress as a CMS for content sections
With this full tech stack, we were able to develop a robust yet flexible online tutoring platform that could integrate with existing systems to deliver targeted intervention at scale. The combination of PHP, MySQL, WordPress and Google tools allowed us to build and deploy features quickly while also providing a secure, reliable environment for live tutoring sessions.
